I had heard that it was the best film school in the country, and I was determined to get in. But when the rejection letter arrived in the mail one sunny spring day, my world came crashing down.

Crushing disappointment is a mild way to describe how I felt. I had put everything into getting accepted by USC, and now it seemed like all my efforts were for nothing.
